Assign benefits to employees

Once benefits are configured, you assign them to employees. Benefits can be assigned directly to employees or through employee templates.

Assigning Benefits to Employees

To assign a benefit to employees

  1. Open the employee card or select the employee on the Employee list.
  2. Choose the Benefit Assignments action.
  3. On the Benefit Assignments page, you'll see all available benefits and their current assignments.
  4. For each benefit you want to assign:
    • Specify whether the employee is liable for the benefit
    • Choose the appropriate Coverage option
  5. If the benefit uses employee-assigned rates, choose Benefit Rates to set the employee-specific rate (for example, 401(k)).
Note

You can only assign benefits where the Assignable field is set to Yes. Benefits that inherit from other benefits receive their assignments automatically.

To view an employee's benefits

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature 1. icon, enter Employees, and then choose the related link.
  2. Select an employee and choose Benefits or Benefit Assignments.
  3. The list shows all benefits assigned to the employee and their selected coverage.

Understanding Benefit Assignments

Benefit Assignments link benefits to employees or employee templates. Each assignment specifies:

  • Which benefit is assigned
  • What coverage the employee has selected
  • Whether the assignment is directly to an employee or inherited from an employee template
Tip

Using employee templates for benefit assignments can reduce administrative effort when managing benefits for large groups of employees with similar benefit packages.
